Care instructions
Care instructions:
To ensure that your jewelry has a long service life, we have listed some information about silver and care instructions here.
The information 925 sterling silver is always given for the sake of completeness and means nothing else than that the jewelry consists of 925 parts silver and 75 parts copper. The products are all nickel free! The copper content is necessary to give the jewelry a higher degree of hardness, because jewelry made of pure silver would be too soft to process.
Silver has the property that it oxidizes with oxygen over a longer period of time and this has the consequence that the jewelry darkens. Darkening is a chemical reaction and unfortunately cannot be prevented, but the process can be slowed down.
To slow down the process, here are some maintenance tips:
- Wearing the jewelry should be avoided when using cosmetics, as they contain sulfur and darken the jewelry faster.
- Silver jewelry should also not be worn in salt water and water containing chlorine.
- If the jewelry is not being worn, it is advisable to seal the jewelry airtight.
If your piece of jewelry darkens after a long time, there are special cleaning cloths that are available in drugstores or supermarkets. You can use it to polish the jewelry preventively, toothpaste is also good!
